Zippers and Pouch

I made my first pouch today (really 2 days ago), and cut my first zipper down! It is not perfect which goes to show you just because I write a blog doesn't mean I know always what I am doing. I am always interested in learning new skills by making mistakes. I used the FREE Cratsy Bag Making Basics with Kristin Link Reversible Tote & Zipper Pouch is excellent. I also used a Craftbuds tutorial called: Easy Lined Zipper Pouch Tutorial. for additional information on zippers.

See my mistake it didn't line up! Still useable!

I was packing up my sewing things to go to our daughter's house (who has no internet - so I am not sure when I will get to someplace with wi-fi), back to my story. I took my new pouch and filled it with zippers. My husband comes by and picks it up and asked if he could have it! Big shock, he is very supportive of my sewing, quilting, blogging, swapping world wide, and spending his money, but never has he asked for something like for hisself(take that back he ask me to buy some fabric he found in a quilt shop 15 years ago and make him a quilt, it took 12 years for me to learn to quilt it). So I opened another bag that was going with me and threw those zippers in it and gave it to him! He but his medicine in it to take on our trip. I am so pleased.     Nice zipper pouch. It does look like it would even hold all MY husbands meds. Good luck on having your grandchild fast and easy.

Thanks you Madame Samm Sew We Quilt! and Erin Sew At Home Mummy for being the best cheerleaders in the world. Madame Samm I love how you keep thinking up great hops! You keep us challenged, that is for sure! I love "Stitching On Prints" it is so fun! I tried out DMC Cotton Perle, Aurifil, and a pack of cheap stuff with great colors. The Cotton Perle is inexpensive and works pretty well. The cheap stuff is awful it is hard to pull through the fabric and I will not buy again. The Aurifil is just right. I hope to get more and start "Stitching On Print" a series. Where we work together once a week and learn stitches. I love the effect in the mug rug. April Showers Blog Hop Day 1! Aurifil Thread Giveaway - Black and White

Let's talk thread! As Quilters and Sewers - thread binds everything we create together. Some will say the most important item is fabric, spend the extra on fabric, I say buy the best thread! Cheap cotton threads breaks and rots after a few years. Have a problem with your thread breaking try a spool of Aurifil 50 wt. thread! It may just cure it! Just a side note - if you have old thread that was given to you, use it as a decoration don't use it in your machine. Never buy old thread for sewing, it will just cause you a lot of frustration. When I needed a bag to hold my smaller rulers, I chose Aurifil 50 wt thread to zig zag the bag because it is strong and durable! I use white to sew almost everything light colored and that includes topstitching. I went back months searching my most used color and go figure it is Aurifil 50 wt. thread #2021, Natural White! It only goes to say that my other most used color of Aurifil 50 wt. thread is #2692, Black! Sometimes topstitching
